SHIFT brings together a passionate group of universities, educational experts, innovation specialists, and sustainability professionals from across Europe. What unites them is a shared mission: to help higher education institutions lead the way toward a greener, fairer, and more socially responsible future.

The project was designed to support universities that want to improve their sustainability efforts but face challenges such as limited resources, lack of training, or complex ESG standards. SHIFT’s team includes experts in environmental management, social inclusion, governance, research, and digital learning — all working together to create practical, accessible tools that make a real difference.

Each partner contributes unique strengths: some bring deep academic research in sustainability, others bring technical know-how in building digital platforms, developing training programmes, or guiding institutions through certification processes. Together, they aim to equip students, staff, and higher education leaders with the knowledge, skills, and support needed to put ESG values into action.
